| Due to limitations in the way SchoolFusion processes the automated Recent Activity and Daily Digest email, homework, files, calendar events, etc. posted AFTER 1 p.m. will not be included in the Recent Activity and Event Digest email for the day. Therefore, if a teacher has told students that they have a homework assignment at the end of class but it isn’t posted until 3 p.m., then it will not show up in the email. To avoid missing critical and updated information to teacher sites, parents and students are encouraged to login to the system at any time to access the “My Family” (for parents) and “My Classrooms” (for students) links for current information, as well as to sign up for a personalized RSS feed. |

There are now two bands that rehearse: the Jazz Band (a.k.a. JIB) and the Jazz Ensemble. The Jazz Band practices from 3:00-3:30pm and the Ensemble practices from 3:30-4:30pm.

**NOTICE: Jazz Band Rehearsals have moved to Monday Afternoons!!! Make sure you have a ride home.
The Jazz Band/Ensemble is an after school club that rehearses on Monday afternoons. The Jazz Band is open to any student who has at least 1 year of playing experience. The Jazz Ensemble is a group of students who have been playing for 2+ years. Both groups require consistent attendance and a firm commitment to practicing your parts at home and coming to rehearsal prepared.
There is a required informational meeting for all interested members on Monday, September 29 @ 3:00pm in the band room. Please be on time. Please see Mr. Pratte during homeroom if you are interested but cannot attend the meeting, or you can contact me directly at prattejb@pwcs.edu.
The first rehearsal will be Monday, October 6, 2008! You will need your instrument, folder, and pencils.
Membership:
Regular attendance is mandatory to remain in the jazz band. Any student who misses more than two rehearsals (excused and/or unexcused) will no longer be allowed to participate. This means 7th graders will be "clipt" from the King's Dominion trip and 8th graders will be "clipt" from the performance(s) at King's Dominion.
There is no fee to join jazz band, but there is a fund-raising requirement. For families who prefer not to sell, but would like to make a donation can do so. (Checks payable to Benton Middle School, memo: jazz band & child's name)

The types of instruments that make up the Jazz Band are:
Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Drum Set, Bass, Guitar, Auxiliary Perc. (vibraphone, claves, etc.)
