| Due to limitations in the way SchoolFusion processes the automated Recent Activity and Daily Digest email, homework, files, calendar events, etc. posted AFTER 1 p.m. will not be included in the Recent Activity and Event Digest email for the day. The Benton Middle School Athletic Department welcomes you! We look forward to an exciting year of competition as the “Benton Cougars” in our school colors of purple and gold.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Middle School students who wish to tryout for any athletic team must meet the county guidelines for academic and conduct eligibility. A student is placed on academic probation and is ineligible for tryouts/participation in sports if he/she has received an “F” in two or more subject areas. A student is placed on conduct probation if he/she has received a “U” in two or more subject areas. Interim reports will allow academically and/or conduct ineligible students meeting eligibility requirements to try out for the next sport season.
Benton Middle School will be competing in the Central Division against Beville, Lake Ridge, Metz and Saunders. All sixth grade students are eligible for Season 1 tryouts. All 7th & 8th grade students must meet the county’s academic eligibility standards for Season 1 tryouts based on their 4th quarter grades for the 2008-2009 school year. All grade levels must meet county requirements to be eligible for tryouts for seasons 2, 3 & 4.
All Participants MUST have a physical on file with the athletic department in order to try out for any sport. Physicals are current from May 1 of the current school year to June 30 of the succeeding year.
The REQUIRED Athletic Physical Forms are available in our middle school office and can be downloaded from Benton’s web site. Physical exams will be offered at Benton Middle School on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009, starting at 3:00 p.m. The cost is $27.00, and checks should be made payable to “Family Medicine”.

Tryouts for all sports are limited to three specific days. Participants are to attend all three days. All tryouts will be from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Students must be picked up PROMPTLY by 5:30 p.m.
